Playing Catch-up

Katie had a great fall, and there are lots of pictures to prove it. While I haven't done so well at posting pictures lately, at least part of it was because I was "saving" some pictures that the grandparents hadn't seen yet to be a surprise in this year's photo book.

Our big news is that we're going to have change the name of the blog!! We're expecting a baby sister for Katie in May. We're obviously very excited, and are busy trying to come up with a suitable name that:

1. Is not in the top 30 most popular names in the last 8 years
2. Is not a name of someone we know
3. Is not a name of someone we know of and don't like
4. Is not the name of someone famous that we don't like
5. Does not have any possibility of being made fun of - at least to a large degree (Kid's can be so cruel)
6. Sounds good when combined with Turner
7. Sounds good when combined with the middle name (which we haven't decided on yet :-)
8. Sounds good combined with Katie (e.g. Katie and Gertrude do NOT sound good together).

So you can see this is quite a challenge. I'm kidding, of course, about most of the criteria above. I know that we'll find something that hits us just right, and hopefully that will come before her 5th birthday!

Our favorite name to date has been "Paige", but "Page Turner" doesn't fit criteria #5.

If YOU have a favorite name or an idea for a name, LET US KNOW. If we pick that name, we'll let you babysit either of the kids (or both) any time you want for FREE!

Anyway, enough about Baby Turner #2. This is Katie's blog after all -- at least for now.

Katie is growing like crazy. She still loves watching the Baby Signing Time videos, and must know 40-50 signs by now. She has also burst into the babbling phase, and while she knows how to say many words, she also makes up her own and puts them into some very interesting sentences. Of the words she knows, our favorites these days include:

"No, No, Da-dee" (as she's making the sign for "no")
"Bob!" (she now knows Grandpa's first name)
"more, please" (an oldie but a goodie)

She's also loves to kiss things. Anything. Doesn't matter what. People, toys, rocks, the phone, Max the dog. Anything. She'll walk up to kids she doesn't even know and stand face to face with them waiting for a kiss and a hug. She even gave our pediatrician a hug and kiss at our 18-month appointment. We find this rather cute right now, but I'm sure once she gets kicked out of pre-school a couple of times the charm will wear off quickly.

Enough for now. Click on the picture below to get to the slide show.
