Well here we are nearing the end of August already. Wow.
Mike, Amy, Mom and the kids left mid last week after a really nice visit. We did a little bit of everything: the zoo, Chuck-E-Cheeses, Big Al's, the Clark County fair, among other things. One of the best parts was letting Ally, Morgan and Katie spend some time together -- definitely a treat.
The pictures this time are from a variety of the events listed above, along with a separate trip to the zoo and some random shots from around the house, etc.. Katie continues to amaze and dazzle us. She's walking and running much more now, and falling much less. That's not to say she doesn't get the occasional bump on the head (for which she now says "ow" and makes the sign for "hurt"). Her smile is infectious and it makes my day when she runs over to me when I pick her up at Bob & Rita's at the end of a long day..
She seems to want to kiss everything these days. Which is cute when she kisses us, or a book, but as you'll see in the pictures she also kisses pictures of babies on the outside of diaper boxes, and gets the most joy out of kissing Max the dog.
The sandbox shot was from the Zoo. She loved pouring sand all over herself, and it's just very unfortunate that I didn't get a picture of her stuffing a handful of sand in her mouth (and subsequently trying to scrape the sand out of her mouth with her dirty hands :-).
Katie loves to read books and will bring them over to us two or three at a time. She's definitely trying more words now, and will say "ma ma" and make attempts at ball, apple, and many other words. She growls at the bears and moo's at the cows, but her favorite is still to quack at the ducks. She even quacks before we even get to the duck song on the children's song CD that we play all the time.
All of this adds up to me wanting her to stay at this age for a while. I know it can't happen, and that I'll probably like her next stage just as much, but when she snuggles up on my shoulder or walks over just to give me a kiss without me asking, I just want it to stay this way forever.
Enough sap. Enjoy the pics.
