March Into Spring

I wish I could say it was starting to feel like spring here. After quite a cold winter, the golf weather that I'm craving lately has been elusive. We have had a few nice days, and Katie has appreciated them more than anyone. She loves the outdoors more than anything, and can often be heard chanting "out-dows" while frantically gesturing the sign. Her favorite past-time is hunting for rocks -- "baby" rocks are her preference these days. But sticks and flowers and leaves are all fair game. She'll gather them all and then look up with her big brown eyes and ask you to open your pocket so that she can store the items safely away.

Her list of words has erupted as of late. She's not only expanded her vocabulary beyond "NO!" and "cracker" (thank goodness!), but is now thoughtfully putting three word sentences together. For the most part she is able to communicate many of her needs, and is definitely developing some preferences toward food. She would have "bu-bewwies" every meal if she had her way and if we could afford them. But she also likes pasta, peas, waffles, yogurt, cottage cheese, koos koos, most vegetables and just about any fruit that you put in front of her. She hasn't developed much of a tast for meats yet, so we still have to fight to get her protein in.

Deanna's pregnancy is going well despite some very uncomfortable back pain and constant lack of sleep. We've been trying out Margaret Ellen for a name -- It would be Maggie or Meg, of course. We'll see how it goes, as we had been testing a different name for Katie up until a couple months before her birth.

Enough about us -- I need to start keeping these short so that I'm less overwhelmed by the work it takes to get new posts out. Once a month just doesn't seem to be working. Here are some new pictures. Many of her favorite activities are included:

- Draping Mommy's underwear around her neck
- Laying under a blanket on her little Elmo couch
- Taking baths in the kitchen sink
- Going to the zoo
- Showing people her belly
- Playing on the slide at the park
- Finger painting
