Katie's First Day of Preschool

To say Katie was excited for her first day of preschool would be the understatement of understatements. She could barely contain herself. As I buckled her into the car and we discussed the logistics of the day, I could almost see her cringe when I told her that we were leaving her at the school and would pick her up later. I don't think it had quite sunk in that Mommy and Daddy wouldn't actually be *staying* at school with her during the day. Once I reminded her that we would come back later to pick her up, she seemed to relax a little more. It left me wondering if we might have some issues trying to leave her at school once we got there.
Silly Daddy. Not only was it not a problem, but she barely noticed that we were there at all, and certainly didn't care when we left. She was enthralled with her new classmates, the new surroundings, and having a blast making shapes out of play-doh. By all accounts she had a great time, and is looking forward to going back tomorrow. It's fun to see her so excited... So independent... So grown up....

Here are a couple of pictures of Katie's day and a few pictures of Maggie as well. Besides the fact that Maggie has decided she doesn't want to sleep at night unless it's on Mommy or Daddy, she is just a bundle of sweetness these days. She has started saying some two syllable words like "ready" and "open" (o-peh). She loves to sing and has been reciting the ABC song while washing her hands, as well as Twinkle, Twinkle, Hush Little Baby, and others. She really melts into your shoulder when you ask for a hug now, and offers kisses on request. She meows every time she hears the word cat and knows a few more signs every day, including frog, please, elephant and others. She'll reach both hands straight up in the air in front of you when she wants you to pick her up, and most times will say "up" or "up pease". We still give her a bottle of milk at night and as soon as she sees it she makes a B-Line for the stairs, crawling up as fast as her little legs will take her. Now if we could just figure out this sleep thing :-)
